FIGHTING FOR MY RIGHTS...
IN SATIN TIGHTS!

I was drawing before I was writing. That's not an unusual concept, except that I was drawing Wonder Woman from the age of three. After a basic understanding of line and I color, I applied my hand-eye-coordination to handwriting. The second thing I learned to write in cursive was Wonder Woman. The first was my own name, of course. I had to be able to sign all my drawings of her.

Like many, many gay men - I adored Wonder Woman growing up. It obviously wasn't a sex thing. Was it because she had a dual identity, was it because she had a tiara, was it because she was good with a rope? I dunno. She fascinated me. And I was glued to the television set when ABC and CBS turned Lynda Carter into my favorite Amazon.

Growing up in central Kentucky in the 1970s, I found solace in her comic books and television series. I am delighted to hear that Phil Jiminez, has taken the reigns of the DC comic. He is a superb artist and his obsession with Diana reminds me a lot of my own youth spent drawing while the other boys played with their mini-John Deeres in the dirt.
