A FINE LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE

I graduated from Washington University in 1993 with dual degrees in Printmaking and Photography. My work at that time was a mixture of performance art and ridiculous extravagance. College was a time of great experimentation, to say the least.

I went to art school convinced that I could get a job in a marketing, advertising or graphic design firm upon graduation. There was a flaw in my logic: I never applied myself to making commercially viable artwork. I dressed folks up in ridiculous costumes, built a series of Cornell-inspired shadow boxes and spent a majority of my time attacking the art school institution and the industry it was preparing us for. I was incredibly idealistic then bright eyed and optimistic, yet somewhat cynical and sour. That's youth for you.

To the right is some work by a few of my favorite artists:
Diane Arbus
Cindy Sherman
The Starn Twins
